The touristic Project of Estrada
Real (Royal Road) involves more than 177 towns in Minas
Gerais, RJ e SP. More than 1410 km of great touristic
potential that, besides relating preservation and spreading of
historical cultural heritage, can warm the tourism, providing
work and wealth.
The road was built during Brazil
colony to connect the ancient capital Villa Rica (Ouro Preto
today) to the seashore so that the gold extracted from the
mines was shipped to Europe. It´s formed by two roads: the old
one which ends in Paraty, and the new one, that linked the
gold mines to the future capital Rio de Janeiro. This path was
altered later and extended to reach Diamantina.
The historcal towns situated
around the road represent important part of National Cultural
Heritage because of its churches, paintings, sculptures,
museums, houses, hidromineral spots as well as its music,
composed and executed by the local artists in that time.
The project Ancient Brazilian
Music Concertos in the Royal Road Circuit in its second
edition realizes a cicle of free concertos at historical spots
of the towns located by the road. The repertoire of the
concertos is based on brazilian music from XVI to XVIII
centuries. This way, Cameratta Lusittana performs the
Brazilian Colonial Music at the spot where it was originally
composed and heard in the past.
The cicle takes place in Ouro
Preto, Barbacena, Nova Lima, Sabará, São João del Rei and Belo
Horizonte.
In Colonial Brazil, the great
solemnities were preceded by feast and street cortege.
According to the tradition, in every town a local folk group
wil be invited to open the feast e lead the audience to the
concerto.
In june 2004, the first edition
of the project took place promoted by the Ancient Music
Research group Cameratta Lusittana when the concertos passed
by São João del Rei, Tiradentes, mariana and Ouro Preto,
exclusively sponsored by USIMINAS through a state law of
cultural incentive MG. |
